The role
We’re looking for a Junior Learning Designer to join our Education department as part of our English team.
As a Junior Learning Designer, you’ll craft engaging and rigorous content that supports students through the challenges of GCSE English Language and Literature. This role focuses on creating high-quality learning and assessment materials that build students’ skills in reading, writing, and critical analysis, helping them approach set texts and unseen tasks with confidence and curiosity.
It’s an opportunity to enable learning at scale and support thousands of students as they develop their voice, interpret the world around them, and prepare for success in their exams.
What you will do
- Work within a team of English specialists to design exceptional learning experiences aligned to GCSE specifications.
- Write content for English Language and Literature, including reading comprehension, writing tasks, and support for set texts such as Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, and An Inspector Calls.
- Create revision and exam preparation materials that help students master key skills in analysis, inference, and written expression.
- Quality assure your colleagues’ work to maintain clarity, consistency, and curriculum alignment.
- Use authoring and content tools to help deliver a high-quality, personalised learning experience for every student.
Who you are
- Excellent written English, with a strong grasp of literary and linguistic concepts and techniques.
- Knowledgeable about GCSE English Language and Literature, with confidence working across fiction, non-fiction, drama and poetry.
- Creative and detail-oriented, capable of writing engaging content that supports deep thinking and strong exam outcomes.
- A thoughtful communicator, skilled at making complex ideas accessible and enjoyable for young learners.
- Open, reflective and collaborative, with a growth mindset and a desire to improve your craft.
Experience that will set you apart
- Experience tutoring, mentoring or creating English resources for KS3 or GCSE students.
- A passion for literature, creative writing or storytelling, with an eye for what engages teenage readers and writers.
- Familiarity with GCSE exam board requirements and an understanding of how to help students succeed under timed conditions.
- A demonstrated commitment to education, whether through academic work, volunteering, or personal projects.
